Pop-Up Program : Blackout Poetry
Pop-Up Program : Blackout Poetry

March 21st is World Poetry Day! To celebrate, we’ll have a table set up in the library where blackout poems can be made. Blackout poetry, also called erasure or redacted poetry, is a type of “found poetry,” where the poet uses already existing or “found” texts to make something new. You take the original text, find or highlight words you want, and then blackout the rest. The remaining text is your new poem! You can do as many as you’d like and take your new poems home or give them to us to share on our socials. It’s a great way to get excited for National Poetry Month in April!
