Story Times and Big Kid Programs at the Olean Public Library
Block Three: April 19—May 14
There is nothing like story time to capture the imagination and attention of young ones and inspire a lifelong love of books and reading. Join us for our different story times complete with songs, rhymes, flannel boards and instruments. Our programs are specially designed for babies and toddlers from birth through preschool. We incorporate early literacy tips and practices that will help these eager youngsters get ready to read.
Mother Goose Wednesdays at 10:00
An infant and toddler program for children birth to 18 months. The program includes interactive books and simple stories, music, instruments and language games.
Stories and More Tuesdays at 10:00
Program for children 19 months and up. Children listen to stories, sing, play instruments and make creative art projects.
Stories and Stretches Thursdays at 10:00
A fun movement oriented program with stories, songs, stretches and games.
Big Kid Programs
These are programs for bigger kids preschool and up. The fun doesn’t stop when a child enters school! It’s only just beginning. There is a often a steady decline in parents reading to their child as a child gets older. The benefits of being read to are countless. These programs include great read aloud books as well as music, STEM and creative activities.
Investigation Stations Mondays at 6:30 and Wednesdays at 3:30
Kids 3 and up participate in directed group activities, including longer stories, music and instruments followed by exploration of creative art and STEM stations.
Reading Can Be Ruff Book Club Mondays at 6:30
Practice reading with our favorite therapy dogs. These guys are great listeners and never judge! They make reading fun. Bring a book or choose one here. Explore the Investigation Stations while you wait.
